Meet Courtney Lynch
As a 5th generation Virginian, I am proud to call the Brookland District of Henrico County home. My husband Patrick and I are raising three children who are students in Henrico County Public Schools.
My life is one of service and leadership. Growing up in Fairfax County, my parents spent their careers working for County Government. They taught me the importance of serving in your community and beyond.
After graduating from North Carolina State University, I joined the U.S. Marine Corps and attended Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. My time in uniform would take me around the world as I deployed throughout the Western Pacific, eventually coming home to Virginia and a tour at the Pentagon. As a Marine I learned that leadership takes credibility, accountability, service and authenticity.
After my initial time as a Marine, I worked in the software industry. Thanks to the G.I. Bill I was able to earn my law degree from William & Mary. During and after law school, I was the primary caregiver for my grandmother. That nontraditional role taught me many lasting lessons and gave me awareness to the challenges of aging and caregiving. Through taking care of Nana my heart for supporting others in living lives that matter developed.
After law school I started my company, Lead Star. Today, Lead Star is a thriving consulting firm. We help companies develop leaders. Along the way, I’ve written two best-selling leadership books. Through my work, I’ve had a chance to learn about business through the talented people I’ve met at client companies like Facebook, Google and FedEx. I’ve also learned firsthand how difficult it can be to create jobs, make payroll and run a small business.
I firmly believe leadership is not about power, prestige or notoriety. It’s about responsibility. After the events of 9/11, I was recalled back to active duty service as a Marine. It was an honor to be able to serve my country a second time.
Today, I’d like to earn the honor of continuing my record of service as your representative on the Henrico County Board of Supervisors. As a mom, caregiver, Marine, business owner and attorney I’ve had diverse experiences and leadership opportunities. If you give me your vote, I’ll put my experience to work representing all of our neighbors. And, I’ll always be willing to listen to your experiences, thoughts and opinions.
I care deeply about our community and recognize that we live in a wonderful place. Let’s work together to keep Henrico vibrant, inclusive, safe and strong!
